In accordance with the City's fiscal policy, the City is to conduct a water and sewer rate study every three to five years. The most recent water and rate study was performed in 2017 and approved by the Stuart City Commission by City of Stuart Resolution 119-2017 which identified rate adjustments through 2022. These new rates are structured to encourage water conservation where those consumers using the least amount of water would pay the lowest rate and conversely, those who use the most, would pay a higher rate. Effective October 1st of each year, the water and sewer rates identified in the water and sewer rate study are adopted as a part of the City's overall budget process. City of Stuart Resolution 100-2021 adopted the new water and sewer rates for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 (Fiscal Year 2022).
The new rates for water and sewer have a cumulative 2.34% increase.
