Shepard Park Boat Parking Improvements Project

Stuart, FL – The City of Stuart in partnership with the Florida Inland Navigation District (F.I.N.D.) has executed a contract with Ferreira Construction Southern Division Co. Inc. for the Shepard Park Boat Parking Improvements Project. FIND has provided a total of $250,000.00 in grant funding for the project (or 50% of the project cost). Construction is scheduled to commence on April 5th, 2021 and all work is expected to be complete by August 2021.

The City of Stuart's boat ramp at Shepard Park is the only public boat ramp within city limits and provides public access to local waterways.  The existing boat trailer parking spaces will be reconfigured to help the waterway user better maneuver around the parking lot, as well as, allow for better staging of boats and trailers without blocking the boat ramp. 

The project consists of milling & overlaying of existing pavement (SW Ocean Blvd.), site grading, concrete sidewalks, construction of pervious concrete pavement, installation of turf block parking spaces, and site landscaping/rain garden improvements. Pervious concrete travel lanes and turf block parking spaces have also been incorporated into the project to help promote infiltration to the ground and to provide treatment of stormwater, thus reducing stormwater runoff into the adjacent waterway.

During this timeframe there will be limited access to the boat ramp and construction work may require periodic closures of segments of the park.  Streets may be partially closed during posted working hours and construction work will require intermittent lane shifts and closures.  However, the contractor is required to allow vehicles to access driveways when it is safe and feasible.  Residents are advised to keep the area adjacent to the worksite readily accessible so that construction workers complete the work in a timely manner.
